Newkirk woman found safe

88-year old Wilma Rose has been found safe. She was last seen at her home in Newkirk two days ago, and police issued a Silver Alert for the entire area to be on the lookout. The Department of Public Safety says Rose was found safe in Newkirk and is going well. The Silver Alert has been cancelled.
Ark City babysitter makes first court appearance

Ark City's Jennifer Bowman has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of two-year-old Davin Manly last fall. She made her first appearance in court yesterday in Ark City and public defender Tim Showalter was assigned to her case. Bowman was babysitting Manly last October when he ingested a chemical and later died. Bowman's next court appearance is set for March 8.
Basketball player at NOC earns scholarship

Mary Means has been awarded the Northern Oklahoma College Leo Canaday Memorial Scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. She is a freshman general studies major from Tonkawa. The Leo Canaday Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving member of the NOC Women’s Varsity Basketball team in Tonkawa.
Newkirk honors its Teacher of the Year

Newkirk teacher Misty Sewell was recently honored by the Newkirk Board of Education as “Teacher of the Year.” Sewell has taught 2nd grade at Newkirk the past six years, and the superintendent says during that time she has been a hard worker that is always working for her students. Sewell represents the elemetary school as Newkirk's overall winner. Bill Patterson was the finalist from the high school and Casey Noel represents the middle school.
NOC announces players of the week

The Northern Oklahoma College women's player of the week is Cheniqwa Banks, and the men’s player of the week is sophomore Elhad Emerllahu.The Mavs will take on Murray State College at Tonkawa Thursday. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men tipoff at 8 p.m. in Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
